The old wooden manor house was built in the middle of the 14th century. The current building was constructed in the late 1860's when it belonged to Ernst von Manteuffel. The building was nationalized in 1919 and functions as a school since 1923. The preserved original exterior, facade details and parts of the interior make the Puurmani manor a spectacular example of Renaissance Revival in manor architecture. The rich decor on the facade is very precise. The rustication on the first floor is followed by a wide cornice, complex dentils, front pieces on avant-corps, Tuscan columns and the arcade on the top of the tower. The first floor has an enfilade layout. The interior of the hall and other spaces combines many historical styles such as Rococo and Classicism, seen in details like garlands and portrait medallions on panelling, symmetrical foliage ornaments on ceiling medallions, vases and pilasters. Also Historicist tile stoves and furnaces have been preserved.
