There is an inscription that says "S.Root 363/ Broeadway NY" (see annotations tab). Samuel Root worked with his brother Marcus in this studio in New York from 1849 - 1957. In 1857, he moved to Dubuque, Iowa. Cover is missing Mat engraved with name of photographer and the address of his studio.
