Lower half only of case, breaking apart and glass loose within it. Fragile. There is a complex design based on an oval on the reverse of the case, of which the leather is stained and worn.

Inscription on back of Wharton case, and on case beneath portrait, is P Clement 1854, though the style is earlier. Wharton case: Royal coat-of-arms [patent information] T. Wharton No. 791 24 August 1841 on verso. Case opens along short side.

Daguerrian Jewellery: 1990-5036_2565_2 - Gold locket (possibly rolled gold) containing a portrait of a middle aged man set into the 'tray' of the locket. The tray backing (base of the locket) has a central engraved decoration of a grid-like swirled pattern with swirls of line work. There is another daguerreotype image of a middle aged woman set into the locket (the cover of the locket) it is listed under 1990-5036_2565_2.
