Tray only of side-opening case with gilded tray, patterned tray retainer and ogee mat with texture and decorative line of dots

Stamped the cover of the case: Mr KILBURN BY APPOINTMENT 234 REGENT STREET with two coats of arms between the lettering. It is the royal warrant and photographer's name, 'Mr Kilburn, 234 Regent Street', stamped in gold on front. Kilburn' studio was based at 234 Regent street 234 Regent Street in Westminster between 1845 - July 1855.

His right arm is over the back of a chair (red upholstery, the wood and upholstery tacks are gold-highlighted). He wears a dark jacket, paler waistcoat, white shirt and striped cravat. The painted backdrop shows the sky with clouds. Strongly hand coloured, gold highlights.

He wears a dark jacket, dark plaid waistcoat with a watch chain, dark tied cravat, white shirt, paler trousers. His left elbow rests on a cloth-covered table on which also rests a microscope beside which are two eyepieces, a spare objective, and a live box.
