Head and shoulders portrait of a woman. She wears a decorative lace cap with flowers (roses, coloured) framing the face. Her dark hair is in ringlets. She wears a dark dress, with a white lace collar and a broad ribbon (pink) that is held at the front of the neck with a brooch (gold highlights). The back of the wood chair is visible.

Photographer Thomas Thurlow - In 1847 he acquired the license for Photography for the County of Suffolk which he practiced for a time. T Wharton case maker registered his ‘Design for a Miniature picture frame back’ with the certificate of registration on 23rd August 1841. This object is dated June 3rd , 1851 but on the backing the metal is embossed with 4 August 1841.
