The registration card suggests the photographer is Elliott and Fry but this is unlikely as the firm was only set up in 1863.

Lower half only of case, breaking apart and glass loose within it. Fragile. There is a complex design based on an oval on the reverse of the case, of which the leather is stained and worn.

She has a central parting long hair at the front which falls on her cheeks just below her ears. She has a band of white rosette style flowers in her hair and a piece of black lace hangs from the flowers covering the back of her head. She wears a floral patterned full skirt and dark coloured jacket with a thin lace or voile frill at her neck and cuffs and buttons down the front. She wears a gold mounted cameo on her jacket neckline, a large gold chain over her shoulders and gold rings on her left hand wedding band finger and her little finger.
