Portrait, three quarter length of a seated woman with her hands on her lap. She wears a dark dress with ruching on the bodice and a V-shaped insert with lace trimming and possibly a collar. She has side buns and hair in a middle parting. Her left arm rests on a table that has an open book on it. Part of her wooden chair is visible. There may be a brooch on her bodice. Gold chain highlighted in gold, also lightly hand coloured.

Impressed design on front of case depicts in the centre a swan on a grassy mound with greater reed mace behind.
