Part of a family group of daguerreotypes and collodion positives acquired together and listed in Daguerreobase as numbers 001 to 016 in this collection. Professor Thomas Leverton Donaldson (19th of October 1795 – 1st of August 1885) eldest son of James and Jane Donaldson of Williamshaw, Ayrshire lived at 21 Upper Bedford Place, W C London. He married Matilda Georgiana second daughter of Thomas Lingham of Shooter’s Hill, Kent on the 10th of January 1826. This first son, Thomas Olinthus Donaldson was born late on the 10th of October 1826. Professor Donaldson was Professor of Architecture at University College London. He was a founder member of the Royal Institute of British Architects. He served on a committee to determine if the Elgin marbles were originally coloured. Professor Donaldson is buried in Brompton cemetery, Fulham, London grave number 43.
