Has a built in stereo viewer with eye pieces

Statue of 'Dorothea' by John Bell exhibited at the Great Exhibition in London of 1851. Displayed among foliage with other exhibits visible behind the plants. Made from Parian ware. Subject matter originates from Miguel de Cervante's novel Don Quixote, part 1: 'They espied a youth dressed like a peasant stooping to bath his lovely feet in the rivulet… the lovely maiden looked up…'. This was the most successful of Bell's works.

The case is in the form of a book, with a clasp mechanism. The 'spine of the book is stamped in gold 'SOUVENI' the R is not fully visible.

Three quarter length portrait of a seated young woman looking towards the camera, her body facing left. Her hair appears to be loose, down her back. She wears an ornate dress; pale with bands of pattern. Elaborate sleeves, and lace collar and cuffs. The back of the chair is visible. Hand coloured.
