fyysinen kuvaus: Lintuveistos (a) ja pesä (b). Valaanluusta veistetty vesilintu. Kaulaan ja päähän on käytetty luun vaaleampaa ja kovempaa kohtaa, kehoon luun tummempaa ja huokoisempaa osaa; linnun kehossa on alla halkeamia ja materiaali on haurasta. Siipien muoto on veistetty matalana reliefinä. Linnulle on maalattu musta silmä musteella. Pohjaan on asennettu puinen tappi, josta lintu asetetaan pesään. Pesä on kolmionmuotoinen palanen tummempaa ja vielä hauraampaa valaanluuta, johon on tullut iso halkeama. A bird sculpture (a) with its nest (b). This is a water fowl carved from whale bone. A lighter and harder part of the bone has been used for the neck and head, but the body is made from a darker and more porous part; indeed there are several cracks in the bone at the bottom and the material appears quite fragile. The shape of the wings has been carved in shallow relief. The bird’s eye is painted in India ink. A wooden peg has been attached into the bottom of the sculpture for fixing the bird into its nest. The nest is a triangular piece of whale bone that is darker and even more fragile and shows a severe crack.
