Teos esittää inuittiäitiä, joka seisoo ja suojaa lastaan käsivarsillaan. Kumpikin katsoo samaan suuntaan. Kasvot ja kädet on veistetty yksityiskohtaisemmin. The sculpture is made of unpolished basalt stone. The sculpture is carved out of one fairly heavy piece of rock. It depicts an Inuit mother standing up and shielding her child with her arms. Both mother and the child are looking in the same direction. The faces and hands have been carved with some detail.
