Mezzotint portrait on paper of Edward VI (1537-1553), King of England, engraved by Richard Houston (c.1721-1775) and published by Elizabeth Bakewell (fl. 1749-1770s) and Henry Parker (1725-1809) in London in 1759. It is from a series of twenty-one plates of Protestant reformers, published as illustrations to ‘The Lives of the principal reformers’ by Richard Rolt (1724-1770). The plates were originally engraved by John Faber the Elder (c.1660-1721) in London in 1714/15 and were later acquired by Bakewell and Parker who had them retouched and re-lettered. Elizabeth Bakewell was a print seller and publisher who continued her husband's business (Thomas Bakewell) after his death, partnering with his former assistant Henry Parker.
