Information Officer Govt. of India, British East Africa/June,49,A22a(iii)The opening ceremony of the exhibition of paintings by Mr. Madhav Satwalekar, the artist from Bombay, was performed in Nairobi (East Africa) in June, 1949 by His Worship the Mayor Alderman Woodley. The exhibition which displayed about 70 paintings by the artist, majority of those being from India, was sponsored by the Information Office of the Commissioner for the Government of India in British East Africa.Photo shows (from left to right) Mr. M.D. Shahane, the Information Officer, Mr. Madhav Satwalekar, the artist, Mr. Kassam Kanji, a leading merchant of Nairobi, the Raja Saheb of Anudh, father of Indian Commissioner in British East Africa, Mr. Apa B. Pant, the Indian Commisisoner in British East Africa and Sardar Sahib Sangat Singh, the Indian Trade Commissioner in Mombasaa.
