Hanuman, the monkey god, holds a mace in his right hand and a Himalayan mountain, with the magical herb, with his left. Gouache painting by an Indian painter. When Lakshman, Rama's younger brother was fatally wounded, the only cure was a magical herb which grew on a Himalayan mountain. In a hurry, Hanuman couldn't find the herb and so carried the entire mountain back.
