The painting has been set in the mausoleum of the cemetery in Tegnére in Växjö. It is a painted wall field that was part of the fixed interior the horse. It was taken down after a few years because of damage in the paint layer, and was left to a conservator. Subsequently, the painting was repatriated to Paul Boberg who was at the time museum director. Boberg then presented the painting on the wind of the newly built museum, where it was located until Karin Nilsson and Lars Palm found it approx. 1980. After a few years it was decided that the painting should be deposited to Villa Vik in Sandsbro. Before this took place, the painting was assembled on tension frame 1984. The painting was nailed up in a stairwell, hanging there until the museum’s staff picked it down in February 2004.
