Part of a family group of daguerreotypes and collodion positives acquired together and listed in Daguerreobase as numbers 001 to 016 in this collection. Thomas Olinthus Donaldson (born 10/10/1826) was in first son of Professor Thomas Leverton Donaldson and his wife Matilda. He served in the 2nd regiment of the East Indian Engineers. The engineers assisted in building the East Indian railway between circa 1845 and 1850. He married Maria Nethersole.
