Head and shoulders portrait of a young woman, with ringlets, looking to one side. / Base of case is much deeper than the cover. Sunburst pattern on mat. The preserver is a sheet of metal (now grey) cut larger than the glass and placed behind the plate. The edges have then been bent up around the glass to grip the edges. The inside of this metal sheet is silvery and an area on the verso that has been protected by glue is still bright.
