Thomas Olinthus Donaldson (born 10/10/1826) was in first son of Professor Thomas Leverton Donaldson and his wife Matilda.  He served in the 2nd regiment of the East Indian Engineers.  The engineers assisted in building the East Indian railway between circa 1845 and 1850.  He married Maria Nethersole.
