Label on front of glass: Augustine Wade. 1850. Written on verso: Augustine Wade ... composer, over erased inscription Augustine Wade. / Wharton style case. Note that the Irish composer J Augustine Wade died in 1845, so date 1850 is wrong. His obituary is to be found in the Illustrated London News week ending July 19th 1845, with a wood engraving portrait based on this image, p13.
