Woman and child very decoratively dressed with a remarkable amount of gold jewellery. Very ornate case with moulded designs on front and back: foliage around an oval roundel on a 'machine-turned' ground, linear edging with gilt border. Velvet cover cushion decoration has a central urn holding exotic fruit, bordered with scrolling and foliate patterns

He wears a dark jacket, waistcoat and cravat, with a white shirt, and checked trousers. He is clean-shaven, with dark but greying hair. He has a gold ring on the little finger of his right hand. The edge of a table is visible to his right, and the edge of an ornate piece of furniture to his left. Hand-coloured.

Lower half only of case, breaking apart and glass loose within it. Fragile. The Museum's record states that the case (Mixed Garden Flower, variant) is circa 1851.
