This scene is not found in the New Testament. It seems to be loosely based on the story of the twelve-year-old Jesus astounding the elders in the Temple with his wisdom. Here his audience consists of his terrestrial parents Joseph and Mary, and grandmother Anna. The décor, a lavishly appointed room, is also exceptional.
