Ṭahmūras defeats the demon army, from the Book of Kings (Shāhnāma). Folio, ink, colours and gold on paper, Persian text in nasta`liq script, with two framed rubrics (recto: “the reign of Hushang”, “the reign of Ṭahmūras, binder of demons (dīv-band)”) and painting (verso), from dispersed manuscript of the Book of Kings (Shāhnāma) by Firdausi, artist’s name (Murād) inscribed in right margin, probably Qazvin, Iran, c. 1570-1585.
