Graves, Philip de, after
Half-length mezzotint portrait on paper of Henri de Massue de Ruvigny, Earl of Galway (1648-1720) in an oval frame after a portrait painting by Philip de Graves (1705-?). The earl is wearing armour, a sash, neckcloth and wig. The print was probably engraved by John Simon (c.1675-1751) and published by Edward Cooper (fl 1682-1725) in London between 1704-1714. The print has been trimmed, removing part of the oval frame. The title was also been trimmed and partly erased, removing part of the title and all production details (partly visible: General Commander in Chief of all Her Majesty's Forces, that are to act in ...). The remaining text was cut and remounted over the bottom of the print.
