An incomplete cast copper-alloy "toy" cannon of probable eighteenth to nineteenth century date (c. 1750-c. 1850). The toy is formed of a circular barrel which an expanded collar at the muzzle. The barrel thickness expands in diameter along the length, terminating in another rounded collar. A circular piercing passes through the barrel just before the collar, from which the carriage would have been connected; now missing. Behind the collar extends a narrowed and rounded knop.Length: 39.7mm; diameter (widest): 7.3mm (thinest): 5.0mm. Weight: 4.66g.The cannon may have been a working model when complete pand miniature cannon such as this example may not have been toys for children but may have been used by adults.
