A post-Medieval copper-alloy miniature 'toy' cannon of probable eighteenth to nineteenth century date (c. 1750-c. 1850).The toy is described as if it were a functioning cannon.The second reinforce (including the trunnions), the chase and the muzzle are missing.The cascable (or cascabel) and the cascabel button has a length of about 7.9mm. The base ring diameter is 10.0mm. Close to the base ring a vent or 'touch-hole' has a diameter of 2.7mm. The barrel which terminates at the first reinforce ring does not seem to have a break but is in the form of a finished end.This cannon is partially corroded and has a brown patina.The cannon is probably a working model and miniature cannon such as this example may not have been toys for children but may have been used by adults.Length: 31.3mm; diameter: 10.0mm.
