POST MEDIEVAL CANDLE HOLDER

Cast lead/tin incomplete miniature candlestick dating to the 17th century. The object is circular in plan. It is 24mm in diameter and 8mm thick. The fragment consists of the base only of the candlestick. The remains of a central projection which would have formed the stem of the object can be seen. This is surrounded by two moulded boarders. The base is flat and undecorated. The side of the object is damaged revealing the internal fabric of the object. The internal fabric has an ash-grey patina which expands outwards into a light yellowish patina. The external fabric is a brownish grey. Similar examples can be found on p128, Egan, (2005).
