A miniature medieval brooch, formed of a wire ring with a recess for the pin articulation. The pin is intact, though slightly bent, and tapers towards its pointed end. The attachment loop is ribbed with four grooves and it has a collar decorated with three rows of circular punches.The brooch is gold, and dates from the thirteenth or early fourteenth century. Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996. J P Robinson
