The Portable Antiquities Scheme

Medieval copper alloy square framed brooch with a strip pin set in a constriction and seven hollow-backed circular bosses, three on three sides of the frame and only two on the fourth, flanking the constriction. The four at the corners are enclosed on their inner edges by an L-shaped arrangement of short radial ribs. The ends of each L project very slightly to form miniature lobes. All seven are covered with minute pellets. 16.5 x 16mm. Thickness 2.5mm. 13th - 14th century.Finder's no. 2.
