Treasure case: 2004 T275 A medieval miniature annular brooch. The brooch is gilded silver, complete with a silver pin. The circular frame is 14mm in diameter. It is made in one piece, with a simple narrow ring, D-shaped in cross-section, decorated alternately with raised crescent shapes and raised annulets. There are four of each, and in between one annulet and one crescent is the recess for a silver pin. This has a closed loop and a tiny transverse ridge at the junction of the loop and the shaft. No special treatment has been given to the pin rest. The frame of the brooch is bent slightly, perhaps deliberately, along the line of the pin. There are traces of gilding on both front and reverse. It weighs 1.03g and dates to the 13th century.
