A complete cast lead miniature votive axe resembling an iron axehead, probably dating to the Roman period (43-410 AD). The miniature is wedge-shaped, with an oval hole pierced through the thicker part of the object; the thicker portion of the axe is square in cross-section, whereas the blade end is flat. It measures 25.1 mm long, 7.9 mm wide (maximum), 5.4 mm thick and weighs 4.15 grams.Axes, mainly from religious shrines and graves, form the largest group of miniature tools found from Roman Britain.
