A complete zinc alloy modern copy of a Roman Denarius of Augustus as Emperor (27 BC - 14 AD), possibly CAESARI AVGVSTO reverse type, depicting Quadriga right, ornamental panel surmounted by four miniature galloping horses, dating to the period BC 19 - BC 18 (Reece Period: 1). Mint: Rome, probably.Diameter: 20.7 mmThickness: 3.1 mmWeight: 3.4 gXRF Analysis was carried out on this probable denarius on 14th May 2015 at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, and that determined that it had a composition of 93-95% zinc with around 5-6% copper. As this metallic composition is not consistent with a roman date, it is likely to be a fake or replica coin of Modern dating (19th to 20th Centuries AD).
