The engraving of Diocletian's Palace is engraved according to the drawings of one of the foremost architects of the Baroque period, Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach (1656 - 1723). Erlach's depictions of Diocletian's Palace, which are among the earliest visual records of ancient heritage in Croatia, are engraved according to drawings made by the famous Viennese architect for his famous 1721 Entwurff einer Historischen Architectur.
