In the form of a roundel, the artist Dürer copied around 1504 made woodcut “Die In nach Egypt,” part of his 1511 “Marienleben,” reduced in size and from the opposite side. Despite the change in the frame, format and orientation, the orientation towards the template can be clearly seen. The copyist shows Joseph advancing with luggage, in his hand the reins of the two load animals. He turns to Mary, who sits on the donkey with the child. The area is formed by a dense forest. Although there are no references to Dürer as the intellectual creator of the image idea, the Intiale “L” as a sign of the actual artist is integrated into the representation.
