The artist copied Dürer’s copper engraving “Der Fahnenschwinger,” also known as “Der FDer rich,” from the original page around 1501. The orientation of the template is clearly visible. In this copy, too, the proud man stands in a light contrapost on a cliffs and presents the observer with the field map showing the insignia of the Order of the Holy Fleece. While ships glide quietly over the water surface in the background, it swings the flag and attacks the handle of its sword. The monogram refers to Dürer as the spiritual creator of the image idea, but no reference to the actual artist and the time of creation is integrated.
