Three farmers in conversation

The artist copied Dürer’s copper engraving “Drei Der im Der” (Three Farmers in Talk), which emerged around 1497, from the opposite side. Despite the sideways traffic, he was clearly oriented towards the template, the subject of which has always been much speculated. The focus is on three men, who can be assigned to the peasant status using their clothes. They are turned towards each other and seem to be deepened into a dispute discussion. While a market farmer with an egg basket grabs his belt angrily, his counterpart relies on his sword and lifts his hand in a balanced manner. Between them, a third man attends the conversation. His turban-like headgear sets him apart from the other two. While there is no evidence of Dürer as the spiritual creator of the image idea, the sign of the actual artist is integrated in the middle (cf. Heller Monogrammen-Lexicon 1831.363). There are deductions with the number “150” on the bottom left.
