The artist copied the standing lion from the opposite side, which according to the template inscription Hollar made after Dürer. The animal is turned to the right and stands on a plain ground. A background is completely dispensed with. While there is no indication of the creator of Bildidee and the template, the Nuremberg publisher’s address is integrated into the representation. Heller included the sheet under the heading “Hnach Dürer’s Hund HgeHgeHgeH” in his 1827 published Dürer publication (cf. Heller Dürer 1827 II.892,2452).
