A family picture in Berlin’s tradition, which first describes the rank and task of the individual family members, turns out to be an ironic-critical commentary of civil self-consciousness. Inside, a couple with seven children are grouped around a table. The sitting husband on the right reading a letter that reads different degrees of attention to boredom among the listeners. The high importance of comprehensive education is illustrated with books, writings and notes. The stove is crowned by a Venus. 1795. <br /;> <br /;> Acquired in 1966 by Herbert Klewer with means of the German class lottery for the Berlin Museum.<br /;> <br /;> Unnamed. <br /;> <br /;> Literature: Cat.
