The purple extraction was known from the Neolithic. But the Phoenicians put together the technique of preparing and painting with the dyeing vestite coming to hold the monopoly in this field. The preparation was donated by Willy Kükenthal, assistant professor Ernst Haeckel (University of Jena). He met in Jena Grigore Antipa, PhD student of E. Haeckel.
