The medal is round. The coat of arms laid over two crossed command rods and crowned with a royal crown. In the shield the front of a battlecar with six outgoing flashes. Inscription: The Southern Army Distribution 1941-2000. Inscription on the outside: Memorial Medal, 72 SFHM. Black band with two yellow dashes on the middle and a blue dash on each edge. The medal is kept in an ash along with a miniature medal and a trailer buckle.
